CTI Wrap Up and Catch Up Part Three: Halloween

Halloween happened to be towards the end of CTI so naturally Class 18 had to throw a costume party. It's the first Halloween I actually dressed up for since high school, (Not some lame maturity high ground thing, I just hadn't really had the opportunity to until this year.) and I went as Ash from Pokemon. (cause if you don't already know from my numerous Pokemon related posts on this blog I really enjoy Pokemon.) By a bizarre and awesome happenstance there was also a girl in the corps who dressed up as Misty from Pokemon and together we won the costume contest. (Note the first time I've won a costume contest and it's also the first year that I did not make my costume myself.)

Celebi Event 2011

Yes it's another Pokemon related post because clearly I have one very nerdy problem, it's kinda like Felicia Day's character with World of Warcraft in her web series the Guild. (speaking of pokeposts correction on my last post there are 646 Pokemon as of this generation and three additional ones that have yet to be released anywhere rather than 466 as I said before. By the way I'm only six away from having caught them all again I'm really OCD about this kind of thing.) So I drew this a couple months back when Gamestops across the country were distributing Celebis to DS versions of Pokemon. (This was the first Celebi event in North America since the original Gold Silver for the Gameboy Color ten years ago. Before the only way to obtain Celebi was by getting a Japanese one over the Global Trade Station or by obtaining the Japanese Gamecube promo disc for Pokemon Colosseum for the Gamecube.) This Celebi has a special purpose in The Heart Gold and Soul versions of the game as well as the new Black and White versions. In HGSS once taken to the shrine in the Elix Forrest the Celebi will unlock a special part in the games story that takes you and character's gender equivalent back in time (because Celebi's the time traveling Pokemon.) where you're suppose to learn that Giovanni the absent leader of team rocket is in fact the father of your rival, which they didn't clearly state in the English versions of the game like they do in the Japanese games, which really erks me. (I will repeat; nerd, problem, I have.) You then get to battle Giovanni as he tries to head to Goldenrod City during the Team Rocket take over but is stopped by you. In Black and White once you transfer Celebi by a special means in Castellia City you can receive the Pokemon Zorua as a gift. This is the only way to obtain this Pokemon aside by breeding it's evolution Zoroark which you can only capture in the game by transferring one of the shiny legendary beasts (from a previous gamestop event.) by the same means as celebi. So yeah, really wanting that job 'bout now the videogames and Internet life style is really getting kinda old.

Pokemon Black and White: Freakin' Sweet.

So about 2 and a half weeks ago the new Pokemon games Black and White came out and being the colossal nerd that I am have been power playing my copy of White version since it's release. (One of the many reasons for my absence recently on the blogging scene.) I've completed the main story and am now working to complete the Pokedex and becoming the champion of the Unova region. (Unlike in previous games you do not become the champion of the region when you beat the Elite 4 the first time around do to events in the story.) Over all I'd say these games are a huge step forward for Pokemon as a franchise. They introduce new and interesting ideas while bringing back classic concepts in new ways. I also like the idea of having two rivals a boy and a girl and a lady professor, Professor Juniper. These are also the first Pokemon games to feature Black characters internationally (Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii was the first game to feature Black characters but only in English speaking region copies of the game.) in the trainers, Gym leaders, and a member of the Elite 4. (A little fishy that they'd decide to do that starting with Black and White Versions maybe they should have called it affirmative action version.) I also love the huge graphic over-haul, between the detailed cities and the fully animated battle scenes, these games have never looked better. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the new Pokedex or the Item bag in these games though, I thought Heart Gold and Soul Silver perfected both of these things especially with the current huge ass number of Pokemon (566 and more to see ;) ) I thought the HGSS Pokedex would have been much better for this gen. Over all though these games are truly unlike any previous titles in the series and I highly recommend them for a soul-consuming good time.

Free Shiny Pokemon Give-a-Way!

Today I went to gamestop to get me a shiny Pokemon. With the upcoming release of the new Pokemon Versions, Black and White, Gamestops are currently hosting a download event that gives you shiny versions of the legendary beast trio from Gold and Silver version. And if you are like me and have four of the five DS versions of Pokemon than that means you get four times the nerdy goodness. A week or two ago they were giving away Raikou and yesterday they started giving out Entei. Suicune starts in a little more than a week. Anyone of these three Pokemon gives you special access to a Pokemon in the upcoming versions that you can't obtain any other way, (minus evolving it's pre-evolution but you can only obtain that pokemon by another download event that starts in early Feb. after the beasts event is done.)

RTA = WTF

So yesterday morning was a bad day for public transportation. For those of you who don't know me, (or anyone for that matter seeing how no one has yet to read this and make their presence known, but it's only been like four days so I'll quite the belly aching) I volunteer at the Cleveland Food Bank twice a week every Monday and Wendsday. I also take a train and a bus to get there, which leads to the ranting. Wensday morning I get on the number 37 bus at the same time I had been for the last couple of weeks. (I say the last couple of weeks because I had started to catch an earlier bus to the food bank.) Well Yesterday the bus driver decided that it would be a good day to screw with me and went the exact opissite direction. So I had to get off wait for another bus (note it's very, VERY, cold out side) to take me back to the bus station, to then get on another bus that actually would get me to the food bank. Oh, but it gets better, once I finally get there, a half-hour later than I had been (once again earlier bus, ect.) the doors weren't even open! They were locked, because whoever it was who was in charge of unlocking them had for whatever reason forgot to do so again. So I waited another 10 minutes (it still being cold outside.) until someone noticed I was outside and let me in.

The next image is a tribute to my nerdiness, because like all children of the 1990's I was (and unlike most am still) a Pokemon fan. I found out that they started putting the old episodes online so I started watching them because it's been like 10 years since I saw them (and they're a bit of a guilty pleasure) The last episode I just watched was the one where Ash gets a Squirtle after running into the Squirtle Squad so this is my tribute to that.
